What a Weekend...

Now that school is back in session and the leaves are beginning to fall, I am starting to really miss the days of summer. When I think of summer, I tend to think of our weekends spent Up North. Now, when I think of Up North, I am brought back to the events of the 2012 Labor Day Weekend.

Let's take a few moments to reflect upon that memorable weekend in September...

The Carnival

The Race

Some of us chose to run.

Some of us chose to walk.

Some of us chose to walk A LOT.

But no matter what you decided to do,
you all deserve a medal.

(Or a creepy calendar of your uncles that will haunt you for an entire year!)

The Prom

In Hannibal we come together dancing all as one
We have shared another season of talent, play, and fun.

Summer days will soon be over, soon the autumn starts
And tonight our memories whisper softly in our hearts.

Join hands and hearts and voices
Voices, hearts and hands
In Hannibal the party lasts long
As the windmill stands.

So lets join in just one last chorus,
Uncles, aunts, and guests.

What we've shared won't be forgotten,
Family is the best.

Join hands and hearts and voices
Voices, hearts and hands
In Hannibal the ...

Nobody puts Grandma in the corner!

Now Grandma had the time of her life

and she owes it all to you --

for making her your...

2012 Prom Queen

This Labor Day Weekend is going to be hard to top!

The question now becomes...

"What the Hell-en are we going to do next year?"

What You Can Find at a Boos Garage Sale

A Boos Garage Sale is like no other garage sale in the area because...

It is HUGE,

It has LOTS of friendly workers,

And it has LOTS of INTERESTING things.

Let's take a look at what exactly you can find at a Boos Garage Sale.

You can find this sexy flowered jumper complete with a matching belt - only 50 cents! Justine is going to be turning heads in the Chi-Hi hallways next year!

You can find this plush, blue-velvet robe tied securely at the waist - only 50 cents!
Don't forget Grandma's crocheted hats - a must in 94 degree weather!

You can find interesting customers. These two guys stopped in on their way to Aspen. They said they were looking for a Mary Swim? Swammi? Slippy? Slappy? Swenson? Swanson?...Samsonite!

TOTAL

In just 2.5 days, Judge Stacey would like to report that we raised $800.50 for the Up North Fund and have surpassed the $5000.00 mark in the bank!

A huge THANK YOU goes out to all of you who donated items and your time to make this another successful sale!

Not only did we raise money, but we also inspired the younger generations.

Isaiah and Wesley set up their own garage sale on the table Up North. They had a wide variety of items, including Grandpa's hat. According to Isaiah, "Someone will buy it."
(I think Molly did - for 2!)

The North Council

The verdict is in! 5 lucky people have been "appointed" to the North Council for the next year. These people include Darin, Missy, Jackie, Jake, and Stacey. They have "solemnly sworn" to represent our family to the best of their abilities.

The North Council was created to get more people involved and to get new ideas for Up North. We want everyone's voice to be heard! Please take a few moments to get to know the members of the Council. Feel free to contact them at anytime day or night with your ideas and/or concerns about Up North. Do not be too shy or embarrassed to share your opinions with them - they will not "judge" you.

Meet the 2012 North Council

Judge Darin - "Town Elder"
Not only is Judge Darin the eldest member of the Council, but he is also our resident John Deere expert. He can often be seen on his tractor chauffeuring dozens of people down Konsella Road. Last year, Darin's graceful "diving" skills nearly earned him a trip to the Summer Games in London. However, he "flopped" and fell short of his dreams. Raise your right hand and toast your PBR to Judge Darin!

Contact Darin at: cynthia.boos.ipt0@statefarm.com

Judge Missy - "Lil Debbie"
We are so fortunate to have the lead singer of "Little Debbie and the Snack Cakes" be a member of the Council. Not only did she kick-off last year's Horseshoe Tournament with her rendition of the National Anthem, but she also managed to bring home the championship trophy. She could barely walk the next day from having to carry her partner! Missy's inspirational performance in the First Annual Chequamegon 5Kish was one that we can only hope will be repeated. With those talents, who could object to Judge Missy?

Contact Missy at: msimmons@oakleafmedical.net

Judge Jackie - "Ms. Leinie's"
Judge Jackie's selflessness has made her a perfect candidate for the Council. She is so committed to the family that she took on a second job to provide us with an endless supply of cheap beer. Way to take one for the team, Jackie! The evidence suggests that Judge Jackie will do a great job!

Contact Jackie at: Jblum4@cvtc.edu

Judge Jake - "Mr. Horseshoe"
As a former "Plow Boy" and avid "panny-cake eater," Judge Jake was a "shoe-in" for the Council. Jake's repeated top performances in the Horseshoe Tournament (especially since most of the uncles have been unable to compete) prove that he will be a fine leader. His love for the cabin and his unwillingness/cheapness to travel may someday cost him the "Big-D," but like he always says, "Why go someplace tropical, when you could go Up North?" Now that's commitment! May the record reflect that Judge Jake is the best man for the job!

Contact Jake at: nickiolson@hotmail.com

Judge Stacey - "Ms. College"
She may be the baby of the Council, but she will still represent us well! To show her dedication and commitment to the family, Stacey is willing to sacrifice her library and study time to serve us. We are hoping that her days in LaCrosse provide her with a rich edumacation and worldly experiences, like Tippy Cup and Beer Pong, that she can share with us. The jury finds Judge Stacey will be guilty of being a great leader!

Contact Stacey at: staceyboos@msn.com

Spring Clean Up

April 28th (this coming Saturday) has been designated as the annual Spring Clean-Up Day Up North. If you and your family can make it, we would love to have your help! There is a lot of work to be done to get ready for the camping season. We need to...
*Clean Grandma's trailer and the Bunk House
*Do yard work
*Get out the lawn ornaments and decorations
*Sweep out the pavillion and wash the furniture

This is last minute, but the more people who come, the sooner we will all be able to all enjoy an "ice cold one" to help kick-off the Up North season!

***Starting on Wednesday, April 25th, Dan will have his trailer up at Grandma's house. If you have been saving pop cans, you can drop them off in the trailer. All of the money raised from the cans will go towards the Up North fund.
