Labor Day Weekend

It's hard to believe that Labor Day is just a week away and that summer is officially over! The last big weekend of the season is always a favorite.

Here is the schedule of the weekend events:

*Saturday - Carnival for the Kids
We're going to try to scale back the carnival a bit and move it along a little faster than in the past. Feel free to bring a new game or just bring back an old game (we won't judge). We'd also like to organize a kickball tournament or some other game to get everyone involved. Keep your fingers crossed for another Live Music Performance by our friend Al on his squeezebox! Plus Joe is bringing is awesome Karaoke System!

Here's an oldie (but goodie) to get you excited for the weekend!

*Sunday - Horseshoe Tournament
Since we are going to be down a significant number of people this year, I'm hoping we can have the tournament wrapped up before we need to bring out the lights! With some of the former champions either out of commission or out of town, the trophy is certainly up for grabs this year!

Where Were You?

The weekend of August 5th and 6th was Clean-Up Weekend Up North. As you can see from the photos, there was a lot of work to do, but a lot of people chipped in to help. Everything looks great and ready for the race. See you next weekend!

The title of this post was courtesy of Missy, but if you look below, she doesn't seem to be in any of the pictures...hhmmmmm?

(Just kidding Missy - I know you were taking pictures at the same time and hard at work painting!)

Drum Roll Please....

In just 2.5 days, we raised $1073.66 for Up North!

A huge "THANK YOU" goes out to all of the people who donated items for the garage sale, as well as helped set-up, ran the sale, cleaned up, and delivered the leftover items to Salvation Army and Easter Seals in the pouring rain (Paula and Jack and Pam and LeAnn). It was A LOT of work, but a huge success. I can honestly say that I have never seen so many people at a garage sale - and I've been to a lot of them. Even Grandma got into the garage sale mood and let us clean out the front porch and the upstairs. We sold a lot of her "treasures," but don't worry - we didn't touch the Elvis picture. I think we can all agree that that picture is a classic!

Here's a couple of pictures from the sale. Remember to save your junk -
Dan wants to make this an annual event!

 I think they've found they're calling...

Start Cleaning Out Your Closets...It's Garage Sale Time!

Thursday and Friday
August 11th and 12th
8:00-5:00
Grandma's Garage
(We will possibly be open on Saturday until noon if there is enough stuff left over and enough help.)

If you have items for the garage sale, please have them marked (reasonably - we want things to go) and brought to Grandma's garage by Tuesday night. We will be setting up all day on Wednesday.
**All items will be considered donations to the Up North fund, unless they are clearly marked with your name, and you let us know to keep your tags separate.

We will need volunteers to help set up, run the sale during both days, take down on either Friday night or Saturday afternoon, and deliver the remaining stuff to Hope Gospel Mission or Good Will. We will also need lots of tables and hanging bars/racks. If you are able to help out in any way, please email or call Holly as soon as possible.
